Mecbo America launches Scorpion, a new concrete crawler boom

Mecbo America, a division of US-based Blastcrete Equipment (as part of a distribution agreement with Italy-based concrete pump manufacturer Mecbo), has launched the Scorpion Concrete Crawler Boom, designed for contractors working in piling, drilling, tunnelling and commercial construction.

Mecbo America said the Scorpion design features a flexible arm for placing concrete in areas that are difficult or unsafe to reach with traditional equipment.

The company said the offering helps provide an economical solution for contractors who already have a concrete pump but need a more efficient way to move material.

“As concrete contractors grow and the scope of their work changes, many recognise the need for a boom,” Scott Knighton, co-CEO of Blastcrete, said. “The Scorpion provides that capability without the added expense of another pump.”

The ten-ton Scorpion features a vertical reach of 52 ft and a horizontal reach of 46 ft, with a 370-degree rotational span. The company said the extended reach reduces delays on projects, especially for highway overpasses or large commercial buildings with tight spaces. Customisation options are also available for contractors who need higher reach than the standard.

Standard features include a handheld radio control for the boom and undercarriage. Power supply options consist of a 50-hp electric motor or a 30-hp diesel engine with a soundproofing option.

The company noted the arm folds into a ‘Z’ formation for easier transport on a trailer.

The Scorpion doe not require stabilisers and allows operators to continue pumping concrete while the machine moves, Mecbo America added.

Through its distribution agreement with Mecbo global, Blastcrete offers expanded solutions like Mecbo America products for contractors in North, Central, and South America, especially in high-volume applications like deep foundations and pool installations.
