Liugong considers Turkish options

29 May 2013

Chinese construction equipment manufacturer Liugong may consider building a factory in Turkey, a country which it views as a hub for its Eastern Europe, Georgian and Azerbaijan operations.

Speaking during the Komatek exhibitionin Ankara, Turkey, Liugong sales director Kivanç Eren said the company was evaluating a manufacturing facility in the country.

"We opened our Istanbul stock centre last year, and the Turkish market is the first one in Europe that has really taken off for us. There is lots of demand for graders and mini excavators, and also our wheeled loaders are selling well."

Mr Eren added that demand for construction machines in Turkey was currently greater than Liugong's growth rate. "We need to close the production gap and are currently looking at our options," he said.
