Liebherr excavator innovation
31 March 2009
Intermat will be the first opportunity to see Liebherr's new generation of excavators. The machines on show from the Generation 6 range will cover the 21 to 28 tonne categories in the shape of the R 906, R 916 Litronic and R 926 Litronic.
Each is powered by a four cylinder Liebherr engine, with CAN_BUS control to optimise engine speed and power, and optimise fuel consumption. The machines are available as a ‘Classic' version for basic earthmoving work, or in ‘Advanced' configuration, with more options on offer for different types of application. Advanced machines also feature a new spacious cab.
Another key feature is Liebherr's new ‘Positive Control' hydraulic system, which optimises oil flows when the excavators are using several hydraulic circuits at once - for example when grading on the go or while turning.
New in the handling sector is the 21 tonne R 317 Litoronic, a crawler-mounted machine with an elevating cab. Besides this modification, the machine is available with a highly protected air system for dusty environments. Maximum reach is achieved with a 5,50 m boom and 4,00 m stick, although smaller options are available.
A new addition to Liebherr's recently added rotary foundation drill range is the LB 20, which is capable of drilling 2 m diameter holes to depths of 40 m. The addition takes the LB range to five machines, with torque ratings from 16 mt to 35 mt, and the LB 20 sits at the lower end of this with a 20 mt drive.STAY CONNECTED
