Online construction equipment auctioneer IronPlanet reported record third quarter sales of US$ 123 million, up +61% on the same quarter last year. The company's sales in the first three quarters were US$ 334 million, up +36% on the equivalent period in 2008.

IronPlanet chairman and CEO Gregory Owens said, "I continue to be pleased with our quarterly and year-to-date performance. As we approach 2010 we will continue to broaden our reach and grow both our seller and buyer base around the world."

IronPlant conducted 22 global auctions in the third quarter, up +38% on the same quarter last year. Of the equipment sold via IronPlanet North America, 55% of bids were placed by international buyers and 25% of equipment sold was shipped to buyers from outside the US.

"A clear advantage of our online market place is our ability to bring an international audience to all of our auctions, be they in North America, Europe, Australia or Southeast Asia," said Mr Owens.
