A Chinese construction firm has put the final steel beam section into place on a major new bridge project in Fengcheng City, Jiangxi Province.

China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group, which is a subsidiary of China Railway Group, is building the Ziyun Bridge which spans a total of 5.5 kilometres across the Gan River.

The main bridge is designed as a self-anchored suspension bridge with twin towers and double cable planes. The bridge features a composite girder structure with spans of 60, 80, 180, 80 and 60 metres, making a total length of 460 metres. Meanwhile, the bridge towers stand at a height of around 100 metres.

The final steel beam to be put into place weighs approximately 107 tons, according to China Railway Group.

The bridge project is designed to integrate FengCheng City into the Greater Nanchang Metropolitan Area.
