A Hyundai Engineering and Construction and HBK Contracting joint venture has won the QAR 1.56 billion (US$ 428 million) contract for the construction of the major buildings in phase 1A of Dohaland's Musheireb project in Qatar.

Dohaland's QAR 20 billion (US$ 5.5 billion) Musheireb project will be constructed in five phases on a 35 hectare site, with the first phase scheduled for completion in 2012 and the complete project finished by 2016.

Phase 1A includes construction of the Diwan Amiri Quarter, which includes the Diwan Annex, Amiri Guard and the National Archive as well as a heritage quarter featuring the Eid prayer ground and four heritage houses.

President and CEO of Hyundai Engineering and Construction, Joong Kyum Kim said, "We are honoured that Hyundai has been chosen to join the Dohaland team. Working together on the Musheireb project reinforces our position as a leading contributor to the future of Qatar and its regeneration. We share many of Dohaland's core values and look forward to commencing work shortly."
