The Hong Kong government has released six design options for the new Cross Bay Link,

The six options include a variety of cable stayed designs alongside a low profile option and an arched solution. Each of the six designs has a theme - the Bow, Link with Wings, the Sail, the Alliance, Eternity Arch and the Gateway.

The Hong Kong government will now conduct a public consultation before making the final decision.

The proposed link will span Tseung Kwan O Bay and include a dual two-lane carriageway, cycling track and footpath.

The cheapest option is the Bow, a cable-stayed bridge that features a 130 m-high curved tower, which "penetrates" the deck, and a 200 m-long main span.

The curved tower is "evocative of an archery bow being pulled back ready to fire, with the cables shooting forwards symbolising the arrow in flight", say the designers.

The other five options are costed at 5 to 10% more (US$ 12.37 to 24.74 million).
