Heijmans wins Hague redevelopment

04 November 2011

A consortium including Heijmans' urban development dvision, Proper-Stok, has won the contract to develop the area around HagaZiekenhuis (Haga Hospital) in the Hague. The project is valued at €177 million.

The work will be carried out by OntwikkelingsCombinatie Leyenburg (OCL), a consortium comprising the Vestia Housing Corporation and Proper-Stok. Vestia is a nationally active housing association with a stock of some 89000 units.

The development includes construction of a health centre, some 740 homes and car parking for 2100 vehicles over an area 86,000 m². The housing programme comprises owner-occupied homes and rental homes, 30% of which will be subsidised rental homes. The health centre will include a dentist's surgery, physiotherapy clinic, day-care centre and healthcare-oriented shops.

The site is divided into four planning areas, which can be developed independently of each other. Construction is expected to start in 2012. The area's entire development is planned for completion in 2020.
