HD Hyundai has promoted executive vice chairman Chung Kisun to chairman as part of the company’s latest round of executive appointments.

The company said the move is aimed at strengthening leadership across the group’s shipbuilding and construction equipment businesses.

In his role as executive vice chairman, he oversaw strategic initiatives across the HD Hyundai Group. He also founded HD Hyundai Marine Solution in 2016 and led the acquisition of Doosan Infracore in 2021, expanding the group’s construction equipment business.
More recently, his focus has included digital innovation, artificial intelligence, eco-friendly technologies, and international collaboration, including with the United States shipbuilding sector.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Yonsei University and an MBA from Stanford University, and has held senior roles across the group, including CEO of HD Hyundai Marine Solution and CEO of the holding company, HD Hyundai.
An HD Hyundai spokesperson said the appointment reflects the company’s intent to maintain leadership in core industries while pursuing long-term growth in a competitive global market.
