Manufacturer Kubota UK has donated a special edition gold excavator to construction industry charity The Lighthouse Club, where it will be auctioned to raise funds.

To mark Kubota’s 50000th excavator sale in the UK and Ireland, the manufacturer has produced a special edition 50K ‘Gold Digger’, a gold painted Kubota KX-71 mini excavator, which will be unveiled at the Hillhead exhibition, which runs from 28th to 30th June in Buxton, UK.

Following the exhibition, the ‘Gold Digger’ will take pride of place as the number one auction lot at The Lighthouse Club’s 60th Anniversary Summer Ball, taking place at the Honourable Artillery Company, in London, on 9th July.

Dave Roberts, managing director of Kubota UK, said, “The Lighthouse Club carry out fantastic work to not only ensure the construction industry is a safe working environment, but also providing valuable support to people who are suffering stress and hardship as a consequence of injury, illness or bereavement.

“We are very pleased to be working closely with The Lighthouse Club and donate our ‘Gold Digger’ to the charity. We hope the auction is able to raise a significant amount of money for this worthy cause at what I’m sure will be a great anniversary event.”

And Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Club Charity, said, “As a charity, we heavily rely on the generosity of companies such as Kubota to continue to provide the support and advice construction workers and their families require in times of difficulty.

“We are very excited to have the Kubota ‘Gold Digger’ as our number one auction lot and I’m sure the piece of machinery will attract a lot of attention. Our 60th Anniversary Summer Ball is being held in conjunction with the Construction Plant-hire Association 75th anniversary, which should make for a memorable event.”

The Lighthouse Club’s online auction is now live and to place a bid on Kubota’s ‘Gold Digger’, please visit www.lighthouseclubauctions.com/GoldDigger.
