German Demolition Conference attracts 1,200 delegates

After a break of three years due to Covid-19 restrictions, the German Demolition Conference (Fachtagung Abbruch) is back underway in its traditional home city of Berlin.

More than 1,200 people registered for the event, which also includes an exhibition.

Subjects being presented include BIM (Building Information Modelling) in inner-city demolition and best practices in controlled blasting of buildings.

Andreas Pocha, managing director of the organising association Deutscher Abbruchverband, officially opened the conference, which he is attending for the 20th time.

In welcoming delegates, he praised the industry for its efforts in recycling as well as demolition, saying: “You are true environmentalists and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

The conference featured 20 presentations. that were delivered by demolition and recycling experts and practitioners. 

Topics included reports on “current and new developments in technology, pollutant decontamination, recycling, safety at the work place and interesting demolition site reports”.
