Wild joins HS2 Ltd as civil engineering works along the HS2 route from London to Birmingham reach their peak and the focus shifts to building the infrastructure required to operate the railway.

In a statement, HS2 said Wild had a record in delivering complex railway systems during his time in charge of the £18.6 billion (US$23.8 billion) Crossrail project, which connects east and west London.

Wild’s start date has not yet been confirmed and follows the departure of Sir Mark Thurston, who left in September 2023 after six and a half years.

Sir John Thompson will continue as executive chair until Wild arrives.

Sir John Thompson said, “Mark joins HS2 with unrivalled experience and a track record of successful delivery, giving confidence that he will drive this hugely complex programme to completion.”
