Ferrovial JV awarded US$1bn highway project

Ferrovial Construction Australia and Gamuda Australia Joint Venture (FGJV) have been awarded an AUD$1.35 billion (US$1 billion) project for the design and construction of the Coffs Harbour Bypass project.

The Coffs Harbour Bypass project, funded by the Australian and New South Wales (NSW) governments, is said to reduce travel times along the Pacific Highway by up to 12 minutes and bypass 12 sets of traffic lights.

Enrique Blanco, managing director of Ferrovial Australia, commented, “We are thrilled to once again partner with the Australian and NSW governments and deliver the final piece of the Pacific Highway upgrade program on the Mid North Coast. We’ll be applying our combined experience delivering highway projects in Australia and internationally to maximise benefits for all road users and the Coffs Harbour and surrounding community.”

The project scope includes 14km of new and upgraded four-lane divided highway around the coastal town of Coffs Harbour - starting from south of Englands Road roundabout and finishing at the southern end of the Sapphire to Woolgoolga. Additionally, the project includes the construction of three tunnels approximately one kilometre in length.
