The 50-storey building stands at 163m and takes the record from Ten Degrees, a 35-storey tower within the same development in College Road, Croydon, which was completed in 2020.

Tide operated as both developer and contractor on the development, working with its sister company, the volumetric manufacturer Vision.

As part of the collaboration, Tide says it was able to utilise offsite technology to reduce construction time by up to 50%, compared with standard methods.

Ahead of schedule

On the project, 73% of the entire project’s floorplate was installed within just 32% of the construction phase.

In total, the tower – which includes 937 homes, built on a constrained 2,000m2 site – was constructed two months ahead of its build schedule.

John Fleming, chairman of Tide and Vision, said: “It’s fantastic to see this landmark development come to completion after only 28 months.

“College Road demonstrates the many benefits that come with building volumetric and its capacity to transform constrained sites into valuable real estate, but most importantly, providing nearly 1,000 homes and a revitalised public realm for Londoners delivered in an efficient and sustainable way.”
