Europe’s ‘most sustainable’ construction and engineering firm revealed

Ferrovial has been named as the most sustainable company in the construction and engineering sector in Europe, according to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), Europe.

This is for the second consecutive year that the Spanish-based company has topped the table in this sector.

The index, compiled annually by S&P Global, is viewed as an international sustainability benchmark and one of the most prestigious in the world in this area.

“Ferrovial delivers road, airport, and energy infrastructure that creates high value for the communities where they are located, contributing to their well-being and socio-economic growth,” said Ignacio Madridejos, Ferrovial CEO.

“Our consistent inclusion in DJSI World for more than two decades confirms our unwavering commitment to sustainability, our long-term approach and the innovative efforts of our teams.”

Ferrovial was also ranked in second position of the DJSI World following a comprehensive analysis of its performance in the environmental, social and economic dimensions. Ferrovial has been listed continuously in this index for the last 23 years.

Heidelberg Materials was also included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) Europe, the first time that the company have made the index.

DJSI was launched in 1999 as a series of global sustainability benchmarks. The index family consists of global, regional, and country-specific benchmarks.
