Dynapac machines for Algerian Expressway

A consortium comprising China Railway Corporation (CRCC) and Chinese investment company CITIC Group has won two major contracts on Algeria's East-West Expressway project. The contracts for the central and western sections of highway (169 km and 359 km respectively) have a total value of US$ 451 million.

The entire road is due for completion this year at a total cost of US$ 7 billion. It is being wholly financed by the Algerian government as part of its US$ 60 billion national development programme

In order to complete the work to a tight schedule in tough working conditions and remote locations, the CITIC-CRCC consortium has invested in a fleet of 53 tandem rollers and tracked pavers from Dynapac.

Equipment

The fleet comprises 20 F141C pavers, one F182CS paver, 18 CC624HF's and 14 CC622HF tandem rollers. The machines are being used to pave and compact the base course, binder course and wearing course; almost the complete process of work.

The F141C features long track drives and a 140 kW Deutz diesel engine. It has a 6 m3 hopper and a 9m working width (with extension boxes), and is capable of laying 750 tonnes of material per hour. The F182CS meanwhile has a 13.50 m working width.

Dynapac's CC624HF double drum vibrating rollers have a 2.13 m drum and weigh in at 12.2 tonnes. They deliver 166 kN centrifugal force at high amplitude and 106 kN at low amplitude.

In addition to the equipment, there are two Dynapac service personnel on site for the duration of the project. As well as looking after the equipment, they are providing training courses for the machine operators.
