Cobra IS, a subsidiary of Vinci, has won a €74 million contract to carry out the piping and mechanical works on part of a steel production plant in Germany.

SMS Group selected Cobra to undertake the work on Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe’s plant in Duisburg, Germany.

The site, which has an annual production capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of direct reduced iron (DRI), is the first site in Germany to run exclusively with green hydrogen.

Vinci completed the acquisition of Cobra IS from Spanish infrastructure giant ACS last year, in a deal worth €4.9 billion (US$5.3 billion).
