Cemex has introduced a dedicated plug-in for the Building Information Modelling (BIM) REVIT software, widely used in construction project design and management.

The new tool by Cemex allows architects and engineers to easily identify the most suitable and innovative Cemex products and solutions for their projects, with a focus on sustainability.

Designed specifically for architects, engineers, contractors, and other construction professionals involved in residential, commercial, industrial, or infrastructure projects, Cemex’s BIM software offers a range of features. Users can search for concrete based on specific properties, compare different concrete products based on essential characteristics, and target a desired embodied carbon value.

The software also provides detailed information on materials, including their physical and mechanical performance, along with other technical characteristics. Notably, it recommends products from Cemex’s Vertua range, which offers more sustainable solutions.

The software is said to be the first of its kind in the UK construction industry and will be introduced to other Cemex businesses worldwide in the coming months.

Mike Higgins, National Technical Manager, commented, “We know how valuable BIM tools are to those designing construction projects, as they save time and money by providing immediate access to information and recommendations on the best suited products while encouraging a collaborative process.

“We are therefore very proud to launch our free BIM plug-in which can be downloaded into the REVIT Software and facilitates the evaluation of products and solutions, as well as the planning and visualisation processes of a construction project.”
