Balfour Beatty order book jumps 20% as UK energy drives growth
04 December 2025
UK-based infrastructure group Balfour Beatty has released a trading update showing that its order book increased by around 20% in 2025 and its revenue will see growth of approximately 5% from 2024’s £10 billion (US$13.3 billion).

The company’s order book has been driven by construction activity in the UK, where the ongoing momentum in the UK energy market has contributed to over £3.5 billion (US$4.6 billion) of new power generation orders in the year.
Balfour’s Construction Services division in the UK is on track to achieve a 3% PFO (profit) margin in 2025, helped by the company working on large scale projects like HS2 and the new Hinkley Point C nuclear power station.
In the US the company’s order book is expected to grow by over 10% in dollar terms in 2025 (FY2024: $8.9 billion) following a strong year of order intake for both the buildings and civils businesses.
In the second half of the year, notable additions to the order book included $750 million of correctional facility work in the Southeast and $400 million for data centres in Virginia and Oregon.
“Our immediate priority is to finish 2025 strongly, while laying the groundwork for further progress in 2026,” said Philip Hoare, Balfour Beatty Group Chief Executive.
