Bobcat to cease manufacturing in Bismark
02 September 2009
Bobcat has announced it is to close its factory in Bismark, North Dakota, US by the end of the year. Manufacture of the products currently made there will be moved to its other North American facility in Gwinner, North Dakota, US.
Bobcat currently makes mini excavators, mini tracked loaders, the s70 skid steer loader and its Toolcat utility vehicles in Bismark. The closure will see 475 production jobs phased out at the factory, although as many as 390 will be added at Gwinner to accommodate the new product lines. Some 150 office -based roles will be retained in Bismark.
Rich Goldsbury, president of Bobcat Americas said, "This was a difficult decision because Bismark has been a vital part of the Bobcat story for more than 30 years. But, good companies adapt to change and this is a realignment that will best enable us to serve our dealers and customers moving forward."
