He is set to join technology specialists from contractors, OEMs, digital solutions providers and academia, as well as one or two surprise inclusions from outside the construction arena.

Honeyman, Bobcat’s VP of global innovation, will offer insights into the inner workings of the company’s R&D strategies, describing future prospects for technologies including operator assistance systems and alternative power developments.

Addressing the many broad misconceptions around digitalisation, he will also describe how Doosan Bobcat is exploring partnerships with organisations that are also thinking differently about current and future construction technologies.

Recognised for innovation

Joel, who joined Bobcat in 1997, holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and a master’s degree in agricultural economics from North Dakota State University in Fargo.

Alongside the global innovation team he leads, Honeyman says he is now focused on “connecting the dots” of emerging technologies to create new solutions to address customers’ toughest challenges and lead the industry forward.

Under his leadership, Bobcat Company was recognised as a winner and received multiple honours by Fast Company’s 2023 World Changing Ideas Awards and named a CES 2022 Innovation Awards honoree in the Vehicle Intelligence & Transportation and Smart Cities categories.
