BICES preview

The 13th BICES construction equipment exhibition will be held from September 22 – 25 in Beijing. The venue this year is the New Beijing International Exhibition Center (NBIEC), which the organisers say is the most advanced exhibition centre in Beijing.

The event is expected to attract nearly 1,000 exhibitors from some 30 countries and cover an area of 150,000 m2 or so. The organisers are the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA), China Construction Machinery Co., Ltd. (CNCMC) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Machinery Sub-Council (CCPIT-MSC) which say 100,000 visitors are expected at the show.

They added that companies taking space at the show will include well-known domestic manufacturers such as Liugong, Sany, SDLG, Shantui, Sinomach, Sunward, XCMG, XGMA and Zoomlion, among many others. Meanwhile, the international participants are said to include Hitachi, John Deere, JLG, Komatsu and Haulotte

Although the Chinese equipment industry is in a downturn at the moment, China remains one of the largest construction and construction machinery markets in the world, as Qiao Jian, of the BICES organisation outlined at a press conference during April’s Intermat exhibition.

Speaking through a translator he said, “For a decade or more, China’s construction machinery industry has obtained a rapid development with the large-scale investment in Chinese infrastructure. In 2014, the length of newly-built railways reached 8,400 km, and the operating length of high-speed railways reached 16,000 km, accounting for more than 60% of the world, expressway raod length reached 112,000 km. Water transportation, civil aviation and pipeline construction have been further strengthened.”

And there will certainly be new products on show. Shantui for example told iC it would have six new machines at BICES, including hydrostatic dozers, a remote controlled dozer, and natural gas-powered dozers and loaders, along with new tandem rollers. The company also plans to show a prototype concrete mixer truck.

Liugong meanwhile will showcase its flagship machines at BICES including the 890H wheeled loader, 950E excavator, TC550A crane and LMJ106 mobile crusher.
