Engineering and construction company Bechtel has opened a new office in New York City, New York, US.

Located in the borough of Manhattan, Bechtel said its new office aimed to support local leaders in addressing the region’s infrastructure challenges.

At a reception event, held to celebrate the branch’s opening, Bechtel Chairman and CEO Brendan Bechtel said, “Big cities around the world are coping with congestion, the effects of climate change, and aging infrastructure, and nowhere are these challenges more complex than in New York.

“Our goal is to be a partner in helping New York realise its vision of reducing carbon emissions, improving transportation, expanding its digital technology and insuring equal access to safe, reliable infrastructure.”

The company’s New York team will be led by regional manager Keith Sibley.

A long-time employee of Bechtel, Sibley has previously worked on big city infrastructure projects such as the extension of Toronto’s subway in Canada, the United Kingdom’s London Underground (tube) network and the expansion of McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, US.
