International design, engineering and advisory company Aurecon has appointed a new Commercial Director for Shanghai as it looks top expand its business in China, the world’s largest construction market.

The company said that the appointment of Tang Jianyong is part of the company’s ongoing investment and expansion across Asia.

Earlier this year, China expedited the rollout of 102 major infrastructure projects as outlined in its 14th Five-Year Plan (2021–2025). The country’s construction market is forecast to grow by 5.2% in 2022 and at an annual average of 8.6% between 2022 and 2030.

Aurecon said in a press release that clients in China are paying greater attention to sustainability issues amidst a national move towards a greener economy, which provides them with business opportunities.

“As China charts its economy towards a greener future, there will be increased opportunities in low carbon construction. This includes the development of green buildings and infrastructure as well as in energy and water conservation,” said Tang Jianyong.

“Being a leader in environment and sustainability, Aurecon is committed to helping clients move towards a net zero carbon future.”
