Another new resort announced for Saudi Arabia’s US$500bn Neom project
25 January 2024
The directors of Neom in the northwest of Saudi Arabia have unveiled plans for another coastal resort in the special economic zone.
Zardun will be a ‘sanctuary resort’ overlooking the Gulf of Aqaba with four luxury ‘signature buildings’ design to merge with the surrounding landscape.
Covering four square kilometres, Zardun will be filled with native plants and animals, while visitors will arrive at an ‘experience centre’ with a 360-degree observation deck.
The project also involves the construction of three separate boutique hotels, offering 100 rooms and suites in total. Each hotel will have a different theme.
Meanwhile, Zardun will offer trekking, mountain biking, rock climbing and other outdoor sports, as well as star gazing, meditation, yoga, and education programmes on nature protection and re-wilding, according to its developers.
Neom did not reveal any details on how much the project is likely to cost or when construction will start. But it is the latest in a string of new resorts announced for the area, including Leyja, Epicon, Siranna, Utamo, Norlana and Aquellum.
