After-treatment joint venture

16 February 2010

Deutz, Robert Bosch, and J. Eberspächer have signed a memorandum of understanding to set up a tri-party collaboration to address exhaust gas after treatments for off-highway equipment.

A statement from Deutz said that each of the companies would bring their own expertise to the scheme. Engine manufacturer Deutz has experience of reducing diesel engine emissions, Bosch in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) metering systems and electronic control units and Eberspächer in exhaust gas after-treatment.

"With stricter Stage IIIB emissions regulations coming into force, the demand for exhaust-gas treatment systems for this segment is growing significantly," said a Deutz spokesman.

The company indicated the planned joint venture would supply complete diesel exhaust systems to any interested engine or equipment manufacturer worldwide. The complete system would be made up of standardised modules with customised tubing, and in mobile machinery especially, this would significantly increase installation flexibility.
