The news came from company founder and CEO RJ Scaringe during a new product reveal event.

The company noted in a release its new vehicles will be launched at its existing facility in Illinois.

“The timing for resuming construction is expected to be later to focus its teams on the capital-efficient launch of [the new model],” stated Rivian.

Earlier this year, construction company Clayco, engineering firm Jacobs, and architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) were announced as part of the build. Originally, Rivian expected to break ground on the Georgia plant this year with production beginning in 2026.
