US-based aircraft manufacturer Boeing selected Jacobs to deliver design, engineering, and environmental services for a major expansion of its St. Louis, Missouri, US site.

The multi-phase project will add about 1.1 million sq ft of advanced manufacturing space across a 106-acre site, nearly doubling Boeing’s existing footprint in the region.

The locale assembles planes for the US military, including fighter jets like the F/A-18 Super Hornet, F-15EX Eagle II and the T-7A Red Hawk trainer. According to reports, the expansion will assist with an alleged $20 billion contract to build new F-47 jets for the US.

The expansion also includes the demolition of older infrastructure to make way for the new build.

Jacobs made the announcement on 5 June 2-25, but reports said the contract was tendered in 2022. Construction works are expected to cost $1.8 billion.

Jacobs Executive VP Susannah Kerr said, “During the past two years, our ongoing collaboration with Boeing – from design concept through construction and accelerating National Environmental Policy Act approvals in eight months – reflects Jacobs’ commitment to supporting national security and defense operations by providing critical facilities and infrastructure.”

Site construction is already underway and will continue in phases from 2026 through 2030.
