Controlling machinery from a distance

Matt Hendry, Caterpillar’s global technology marketing consultant, speaks about the capabilities of the manufacturer’s Cat Command station technology at ConExpo 2023.

The technology enables excavator operators to control their machine remotely - and in real time - from a ‘virtual cab’ in an indoor office/working environment, which can be located either onsite or “many miles away”.

As well as reducing operating fatigure, the technology improves site safety by removing operators from dangerous work sites, such as those where quarrying, demolition and decommissioning tasks are being carried out.
