Materials producer to power Poland plants with solar energy
21 March 2025
Mexico-based international construction materials and aggregates producer Cemex will install 14MWp of solar infrastructure at several of its plants in Poland; part of the company’s Future in Action climate-change response strategy.

Cemex said it has already installed one solar farm at its ready-mix concrete plant in Pruszków.
New installs are now ready for cement plants in Chełm, Rudniki, and Gdynia, as well as concrete plants in Mysłowice, Warsaw Annopol, Lublin, Szczecin, and Gdańsk.
The project will be carried out in collaboration with EDP Energia Polska (regional subsidiary of energy provider EDP Group, based in Portugal), under a 15-year agreement where EDP will install and manage the solar installations to Cemex facilities.
Michał Węglorz, regional energy negotiator at Cemex Poland, said, “The concluded agreement is important in this context because it will guarantee us access to green energy in the long term. Additionally, the mentioned contract will enable the diversification of energy sources powering our plants.”
Solar installs are expected to start operation in the second quarter of this year for the concrete plants. The cement plants will start solar PV (photovoltaics) generation in early 2026.
