Track laying has begun on Lithuania’s section of the €15.3 billion first phase of the Rail Baltica high-speed railway, marking a major step in delivering the European standard gauge railway through the Baltic States.
The first 8.8km of track between Šveicarija and Žeimiai in the Jonava district is due for completion by the end of this year.
