Manufacturer Xylem has unveiled new submersible dewatering pumps under its Flygt and Godwin brands Bauma 2013.

The new Flygt BIBO range has been designed for the toughest dewatering environments including quarrying, construction and tunnelling. The Flygt BIBO is available in four models – the 2830, 2840, 2860 and 2870– 3.7 to 18kW models capable of handling flows of up to 100 litres per second, heads up to 80m and solids up to 12mm in diameter.

The Godwin Vac-Prime, meanwhile, has been designed for lower-head dewatering jobs. Compact in size, this automatic, self-priming pump is said to be easy to move and transport. The Vac-Prime is available in 4in (102mm) and 6in (153mm) models, capable of managing heads of 11 to 25m, flows of 100 to 374m³/h and solids of 45 to75mm.

Andrew Jones, head of Xylem’s dewatering business said customers were demanding ever more reliable and durable technologies.

“The BIBO pumps offer up to three times longer wear characteristics than previous offerings,” he said. “New uptime protection technology also means the pumps can cope with dry running for much longer. Our customers are very excited about the re-introduction of the BIBO brand.”

Mr Jones added that Xylem is currently expanding its dewatering pump rental offering across Europe to cater to growing demand within the construction, municipal, mining and industrial sectors.
