Volvo expert to speak at Futureworx

The organisers of FUTUREWORX have secured a final speaker to the roster of contributors at the free conference on 31st March at the East of England Arena & Events Centre (Peterborough).

Mats Bredborg is Head of Customer Cluster Utility at Volvo Construction Equipment. His theme will be “Lessons from Construction: Tackling hydrogen fuel cell technology and battery development”.

His presentation will include insights into hydrogen fuel cell technology and an overview of battery development for Non-Road Mobile Machinery.

Mats is an experienced communicator, including leading sessions with MBA students at Cambridge University on the merging of Business and Consumer techniques.

Expert speakers at Futureworx

Other experts and influencers set to present at Futureworx include Professor Colin Garner FREng PhD, Emeritus Prof. of Applied Thermodynamics (Loughborough Univ.).

Professor Garner is a well-known and long time student of the construction equipment sector and will tackle head on a key question for the industry, “Heavy duty powertrains: what is the best energy source?

HS2 Ltd have also confirmed their conference session which will be led by their Head of Environmental Services (Technical Services Directorate), Neil Wait.

He will be joined by Paul Andrews, CEO of Oaktec (a company at the forefront of hydrogen generator technology), with academic input from an Imperial College expert plus an official update on the Red Diesel Replacement Competition supported by BEIS.

As part of the conference’s decarbonisation theme, Dr Anthony Velazquez, Head of Environment and Decarbonisation at TRL will brief the audience on “Decarbonised plant: circularity, decarbonisation, digital twin and zero emission trials”.

Futureworx organiser, Louise Carney, explained, “We have assembled a terrific mix of academic, industry and construction project experts with contributions that will provide a tremendous insight into the technology pipeline that will serve the construction site of the future”.

The conference programme will take place on day two - 31st of March - of the Futureworx event, with speakers from, Hexagon, Skanska, Costain, MachineMax and many more.
