Vinci wins first design-build contract on Grand Paris Express
13 July 2023
The first contract to design and construct the Grand Paris Express, specifically the initial section of line 15 West, has been awarded to a consortium of companies that includes various subsidiaries of Vinci Construction and Vinci Energies.
Valued at €2.71 billion, with 20% of the amount allocated to local SMEs, the contract encompasses the complete design and construction of 14 km of tunnels, five stations (Saint-Cloud, Rueil-Suresnes Mont-Valérien, Nanterre La Boule, Nanterre La Folie, and La Défense), a rear station at Nanterre La Folie, and 16 service structures.
Functioning as an extension of the southern portion of line 15, this initial section of line 15 West will provide connections to the Transilien lines L and U at Saint-Cloud and La Défense, the RER E at Nanterre La Folie, and the RER lines A and E, metro line 1, and Transilien tramway line T2 at La Défense. The completion of this project is scheduled for the end of 2031.
At its peak, the project will employ over 2,000 individuals, with 10% of the work hours dedicated to social integration. The consortium says that they are committed to reducing its environmental impact and will primarily utilize low-carbon and very low-carbon concrete.
Moreover, Vinci will leverage its Chantiers et Territoires Solidaires endowment fund, which supports community initiatives of public interest aimed at facilitating employment opportunities and fostering social bonds in the affected municipalities.
Vinci Construction and Vinci Energies are already engaged in various sections of the Grand Paris Express, notably line 15 South between Pont de Sèvres and Noisy-Champs, and line 18 connecting Orly and the university center of Saclay.
