French rail track manager and owner of the LGV Est high-speed line Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) awarded the contract, which involves constructing 212km of track between the north eastern French city of Metz and Strasbourg, the principle city of the Alsace region in eastern France.

The project includes the construction of a total of 474km of rail track as well as all the necessary overhead-line equipment. Construction is scheduled to take up to four years.

In total, the LGV Est European high-speed rail project is planned to run for 406km, passing through the French regions of Alsace, Lorraine, Champagne-Ardenne and Île-de-France.
