A consortium bid led by French contractor Vinci has been shortlisted to win a 30-year public private partnership (PPP) contract to design, build and maintain a new 40000 seat stadium in Bordeaux, France.

The consortium, known as Stade Bordeaux Atlantique, consists of Vinci subsidiaries GTM Bâtiment Aquitaine-Limousin and Faure Silva, together with French contractor Fayat. Architects Herzog & de Meuron and Groupe 6 have been appointed to help with the design, assisted by Stadia Consulting.

Mayor of Bordeaux Alain Juppé declared Stade Bordeaux Atlantique the preferred bidder for the project, located in the Lac district of Bordeaux, on 18 July.

The Bordeaux stadium will be able to host international sporting events as well as serving as a cultural facility, hosting concerts and shows. It is scheduled for completion in 2015.
