Video: Controlled detonation of WWII bomb found on Singapore construction site

Premium Content

Armed forces in Singapore conducted a controlled explosion on an unexploded World War II-era bomb after it was discovered on a construction site.

Workers unearthed the bomb at the site of the Myst condominium, which is under construction near the Cashew MRT station in the northeaster suburb of Bukit Timah.

The discovery of the 100kg (220-pound) aerial bomb meant that 4,000 people had to be evacuated from nearby homes, according to local reports.

The Singapore Armed Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) carried out an on-site controlled disposal of the war relic on 26 September 2023.

Police established a 200m cordon around the war relic for the operation.
