Van Oord and Bam International have announced they are to work together to build Phase 2A of the new APM Terminals Moin Container Terminal in Costa Rica, after being awarded a US$ 460 million contract for the work.

A consortium consisting of the two firms will be responsible for designing and constructing the new terminal and marine access. The work is expected to take three years to complete.

Netherlands-based marine engineering and dredging firm Van Oord will handle the construction of a 1.5 km rock breakwater, reclamation of an area of 40 hectares, including soil improvement works, and the dredging of the access channel and turning basin.

Contractor Bam International will construct the 650 m quay wall, as well as the pavement, associated buildings and all utilities.
