US-based contractor Tutor Perini’s subsidiary Lunda Construction Company has emerged as the lowest bidder for a $136 million bridge replacement and highway improvement project.

The project, for the Illinois Department of Transportation, is located on I-64 east of US-1 near Grayville, Illinois.

The bridge crosses the Wabash River, which divides the roadway jurisdiction between White County, Illinois, west of the river, and Posey County, Indiana, east of the river.

The improvement is a total of 1.6 miles along I-64 and the project scope involves the replacement of the existing dual bridges over the Wabash River, as well as roadway improvements to connect the I-64 roadway to the new bridge structures.

Tutor Perini said a contract award was anticipated in the second quarter of 2024, with work expected to begin in the third quarter ahead of completion in the fourth quarter of 2029.
