Sunbelt Rentals UK places €76m JCB order

Sunbelt Rentals UK is investing in 2,100 new low-emission JCB machines - including 350 access platforms -  in a €76 million deal described by JCB as its biggest UK order to date.

The rental company has ordered JCB Loadall telescopic handlers, mini and midi excavators, site dumpers, tracked excavators and rough terrain fork lifts. manufactured at JCB’s Staffordshire factories in the West Midlands.

In another first, the order also includes 350 access platforms, JCB’s biggest UK deal for powered following its entry into €6.8 billion access market in 2017.

The new machines are being supplied by JCB dealer Greenshields.

Sunbelt’s Chief Executive Officer Andy Wright said the company had performed strongly throughout the pandemic, adding that the order “supports our determination to maintain and expand our market leadership position within the UK.”

“Sunbelt is committed to owning the youngest and most innovative equipment in the industry and the JCB range offers fantastic quality and solutions for our customers throughout the UK,” he said.

The company has 200 rental depots servicing the whole of the UK and Ireland and a fleet of over 250,000 machines.

JCB CEO Graeme Macdonald said: “Sunbelt Rentals is one of JCB’s largest global customers and this huge investment in new and innovative equipment demonstrates its desire to offer the the most advanced machines, featuring the latest ultra-efficient, low emissions engines.”

He added; “we are delighted to secure this business. It’s also fantastic to win a large deal for our access platforms from such a well-respected fleet customer.”

Based in Warrington (Cheshire) in the North of England, Sunbelt Rentals was previously branded A-Plant. It rebranded last year to align with parent company Ashtead’s Sunbelt business in North America.
