Stonecutters Bridge deck complete
02 April 2009
The final deck section of the 1.02 km Stonecutters Bridge's central span is being welded into place after being lifted into position last week.
The 1.6 km long cable-stayed bridge, which crosses the Rambler Channel, will form a key part of Hong Kong's Route 8 linking Tsing Yi and Cheung Sha Wan.
Construction of the US$ 356 million project, which started in April 2004, is being carried out by the Maeda-Hitachi-Yokogawa-Hsin Chong Joint Venture and is due to be commissioned in the third quarter of this year.
