South Korea has signed an agreement with Poland to develop transport infrastructure in central and eastern Europe.

The two countries agreed to strengthen bilateral co-operation in the field of transportation, including aviation, and developing the East-West and South-North transportation axes in central and eastern Europe.

Meanwhile, South Korea also agreed to cooperate on reconstruction and development projects in Ukraine.

The agreements came in the form of two memorandums of understanding (MOUs), signed following a summit between South Korea’s President Yoon Suk Yeol, who is on a state visit to Poland, and Polish President Andrzej Duda.

South Korea has recently established various cooperative relations with Poland, including in defence and nuclear power.

South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) said, “Through the signing of these MOUs, we will strengthen cooperation between Korea and Poland and make it as a bridgehead for more Korean companies to enter central and eastern Europe.

“As Poland is the closest neighbour country to Ukraine and a base for recovery and reconstruction projects for the nation, we will continue to concretise cooperative measures.”
