Skanska goes underground in Prague

Skanska has been awarded a construction contract for the extension of the subway in Prague, Czech Republic, worth CZK 3,7 billion (€ 150 million).

Swedish-based Skanska has been appointed by the Department of Public Transportation in the City of Prague, and the subway line A will be extended by four more stations.

The contract is for the technical part of the construction and includes building the energy installations and equipping the subway system with airconditioning and communication systems.

The extension of subway line A will be about 6 km. Skanska said it would start the work immediately and it will be completed by autumn 2014.

Skanska Czech Republic, which claims to be the country's largest construction company, had sales in 2010 of about SEK 1 billion (€ 109,7 million).
