Seng Hong quarry depends on Volvo

02 June 2009

Growth in Malaysia will need an accelerated development of the country's infrastructure to keep pace.

Sek Ann Thong, president of the Seng Hong quarry said, "Infrastructure and building projects are set to place new demands on the country's quarrying industry."

The Seng Hong quarry is a 15-hectare site situated in Kulai, Johor, near the Singapore border which supplies block, aggregates, chipping, hardcore and quarry dust to local cities as well as exporting to Singapore.

The site use a Volvo L120E wheeled loader and three Volvo EC360BLC excavators, with one operator per vehicle working eight hour shifts. Mr Thong said, "Our success depends on the use of heavy machinery in the production process and we've found the Volvo machines are particularly suited for quarry and excavation activities.

"With high productivity and low fuel consumption Volvo's providing excellent cost per tonne for our operation," said Mr Thong.
