Saint-Gobain announces North American acquisition
21 January 2025
France-based Saint-Gobain has announced that, after receiving approval from Mexican economic competition authorities, it has completed the acquisition of Grupo Ovniver.

Ovniver is a leader in chemical product solutions for construction in Mexico and Central America, with an industrial and commercial presence in the southern US.
With this transaction, combined with recent acquisitions by the Group, Saint-Gobain says that it has “strengthened its regional and global leadership in the lightweight and sustainable construction sector.”
Saint-Gobain has been present in Mexico since 1952 and in Latin America since 1937. The incorporation of Ovniver allows Saint-Gobain to intensify its industrial, logistical, and commercial presence in the region.
Ovniver’s brands and commercial and specification teams, will become part of Saint-Gobain. The company says they will help “facilitate broader adoption of lightweight and sustainable construction solutions in the Mexican and Latin American markets.”
Saint-Gobain designs, manufactures and distributes materials and services for the construction and industrial markets. It offers integrated solutions for the renovation of public and private buildings, light construction and the decarbonisation of construction.
The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
