Putzmeister’s versatile telebelt
20 April 2010
Putzmeister has launched its TBS 130 telescopic belt conveyor (telebelt) at Bauma for placing concrete and other construction materials up to 300 mm in diameter over horizontal distances of 38,5 m.
The constant pulsation and pressure-free transportation of material on the five section belt enables it to deliver up to450 m3/hour.
Spokesman Volker Wehner told CE, "While the telebelt concept is not new in itself, the mounting of this unit on a semi-trailer means this machine is now suited to both European and US markets."
In the US, road regulations allow for vehicle heights exceeding 4 m, while in Europe the maximum clearance is 4 m. "This meant we had to look at the whole concept of telebelts in Europe and in designing the machine on a semi-trailer we have reduced investment costs for operators, increased the residual value for resale and produced a machine that suits a worldwide market."
Operators can use their own tractor unit, although because the unit doubles-up as ballast for the telebelt, slight modifications are required to the coupling. Power for the telebelt comes from a Deutz TCD 2012 six cylinder, 155 kW, 6,6 litre engine mounted on the unit to allow for independent operation.
"The launch of the TBS 130 telebelt is much more a concept idea than a technological development, but we are positive that its versatility will make it popular with contractors," said Mr Wehner.
