With November in full swing, here’s what you might have missed in this past week’s Power Briefing:

  • When Dan Romito of Pickering Energy Partners spoke at the Power Progress Summit about challenges facing decarbonization, he saw two significant hurdles: China and India. Their lack of effort in decarbonizing is undermining efforts to do so in the West, he said.
  • Power Progress had an exclusive interview with Sebastian Schulte, CEO of Deutz, about the company’s future growth. Included in the conversation was the company’s sale of Torqeedo and its acquisition of Blue Star Power Systems.
  • The Canadian Urban Transit Research & Innovation Consortium (CUTRIC) works with transit agencies throughout Canada as they look to decarbonize. It recently held its sixth annual Zero Emission Transit & Mobility (ZETM) conference, and Power Progress spoke with CUTRIC about the event’s outcomes.
  • There was praise at the Power Progress Summit for the engineering teams throughout the industry who bring passion and expertise to decarbonization. In his keynote, Cat’s Rob Hoenes added that decarbonization requires problem solvers who can work with customers on the energy transition.

In other news, the EIMA 2024 ag equipment and power show is underway in Italy. At the show, the Case IH Quadtrac 715 earned accolades, FPT Industrial showcased sustainable power solutions and the first application of John Deere’s new JD4 engine was revealed.
