Positivity continues
26 April 2017
The outlook for the European construction industry fell marginally in April, but was still at a high level in comparison to many other months in the last year.
A balance figure of +35.4% of survey respondents said activity levels in April were higher than in March. This was close to March’s 37% - a ten-year high – and is the second highest balance figure seen this year.
The balance figure is the percentage of positive responses minus the percentage of negative responses.
Respondents continued to hold a strong outlook on the future, with a balance of +37.5% saying they expected activity to be higher in a year’s time than now. This was, however, down from +49.3% recorded last month.
A balance of +41.7% of survey respondents said activity levels in April were better than a year previously. This compared to a lower balance last month of +38.4%.
The CE Climate figure slightly down on last month, which was a six-year high. April’s balance was +38.2%, compared with the +41.6% seen in March.
While slightly down on a record month in March, the outlook for the European construction industry remains very positive.
