New York bridge contract awarded
02 May 2013
US infrastructure contractor Granite Construction is to commence work on the development of a new 3.1 mile long (5 km) Tappan Zee Bridge, connecting Rockland County to Westchester County in the Lower Hudson Valley.
The Tappan Zee Hudson River Crossing Project, set to become the single largest bridge project in New York's history, will provide transportation links to more than 138,000 vehicles per day.
Granite Construction will work as part of the Tappan Zee Constructors, a team comprised of Granite Construction Northeast, Inc., Fluor Enterprises, Inc., American Bridge Company, and Traylor Bros., to design-build the new transportation link.
Granite booked approximately US$ 733 million related to its portion of the contract into backlog in the first quarter of 2013.
