New FIEC president

Johan Willemen has been elected president of FIEC (the European Construction Industry Federation) for the 2014 to 2016 period, succeeding Thomas Schleicher whose statutory term of office has come to an end.
A civil engineer, Willemen is the CEO of his family-owned company in Belgium. He had been president of the Belgian Confédération Construction/Confederatie Bouw as well as being vice president of FIEC and president of the Social Commission.
He will sit on the FIEC Steering Committee which will also include vice presidents Frank Dupré representing Germany; Jean-Louis Marchand, France; Duccio Astaldi from Italy, representing EIC (European International Contractors); Paolo Astaldi representing Italy; Kjetil Tonning from Norway, representing Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden; Guillermo Aparicio from Spain; Maxime Verhagen from the Netherlands, representing Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands; Alexander Pongratz from Austria, representing Austria, Switzerland, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia and Slovak Republic; Emre Aykar from Turkey; Michail Daktylidis from Greece representing Bulgaria, Cyprus, Greece and Romania; and Ricardo Gomes from Portugal, representing Ireland, Malta and Portugal.
